Remembering Industry Leader John Gongos

Research For Good and Gongos Research Honor Friend and Colleague with Creation of the John Gongos Melanoma Education Fund
Redmond, WA- September 4, 2012 – Research For Good, Inc. has teamed up with Gongos Research and Outrun the Sun, Inc. OTS to raise money for the John Gongos Melanoma Education Fund in honor of beloved Gongos Research Founder, John Gongos who passed away suddenly in July 2012.

John Gongos was a friend to many in the market research industry and his untimely death stunned all. Gongos was diagnosed with stage four metastatic melanoma and passed away just eight days later. His career in market research spanned 25 years, and his impact on the industry leaves a lasting impression. RFG and Gongos Research are presenting a way to honor Gongos’ contributions to our industry by making a donation to support melanoma education.

Friends and colleagues are invited to join them in raising $10,000 for Outrun the Sun to remember Gongos’s innovations and contributions to the market research community. During the months of September and October, Research For Good and Gongos Research are encouraging members of the market research community to celebrate Gongos and make a donation in his honor. The funds raised will go directly to educating communities about skin cancer in an effort to reduce the number of individuals being diagnosed.

“John was well known and respected in the market research industry. We were shocked and saddened to learn of his diagnosis and sudden death. We are honored to work with Gongos Research and Outrun the Sun to help raise money to support this cause in his memory” says, Research For Good, Co-Founder, Sean Case.

“Beyond being a great leader, John led his life with integrity and was dedicated to several nonprofit organizations,” says Gongos Director Marketing & Public Relations Susan Scarlet. ”We partnered with Outrun the Sun because it aligns with John’s passion for education; and because we don’t wish upon anyone the kind of loss we experienced.”

Gongos Research partnered with Outrun the Sun to form the John Gongos Melanoma Education Fund. OTS is dedicated to building national awareness of melanoma and other skin cancers, educating communities about preventive measures that reduce melanoma’s incidence rate, and to raising funds for melanoma research, leading to effective treatments and a potential cure. Gongos Research is activating efforts locally and nationally to help transform the disease that took its CEO and friend in 2012.

“It is an honor to have Gongos Research and Research for Good create the John Gongos Melanoma Education Fund at Outrun the Sun, Inc. John Gongos’ desire to always create a positive impact, whether for colleagues or clients, is something that we will mirror as we implement new educational initiatives. People often do not realize melanoma’s prevalence and that one American dies of this disease every hour. Support from the John Gongos Melanoma Education Fund will foster skin cancer education that can save lives,” notes Outrun the Sun Co-founder and Executive Director, Anita Day.
